John Henricksson, 87, has written about the natural and cultural history of northern Minnesota for fifty years in newspapers, magazines, radio, TV, film and books. John was the publicity director for the State of Minnesota Department of Tourism from 1952-1962 and has written news and stories for newspapers, radio and TV. He headed a public relations business for ten years which focused on outdoor recreational products and services.
In addition he has written a young reader’s biography of Rachel Carson and the Environmental Movement as part of the Twelve Americans Who Have Made a Difference series and has edited two North Writers anthologies for the University of Minnesota Press which won the Northeast Minnesota Book Award in 1991.
John and his wife Julie, have lived in their Gunflint Lake cabin for five months a year since 1980 and “come south for the winter” to their home in Mahtomedi, on White Bear Lake near St. Paul.
