The Gunflint Trilogy
Welcome to the website for the Gunflint Trilogy, three non-fiction books by John Henricksson about the 60 mile Gunflint Trail which writer Mark Albey says, "Tunnels through the Minnesota Wilderness like a green mine" from Grand Marais on Lake Superior to the Ontario border at Lake Saganaga on the Boundary Waters canoe route.
These books describe the wildlife (A Wild Neighborhood), the natural and cultural history of the Trail (Gunflint – The Trail, The People, the Stories) and the author's perspectives of thirty years of cabin life on the Trail (The Gunflint Cabin).
A Wild Neighborhood won the Minnesota Book Award in 1998 for both the author and the illustrator, Betsy Bowen, the nationally renowned woodcut artist who also designed the wraparound cover for The Gunflint Cabin.
John Henricksson also edited the two volume edition of The Northwriters, a Strongwoods Collection of northern Minnesota nonfiction for University of Minnesota Press which won the Northeastern Minnesota Book Award anthology division.
